Registered Clinical Counsellor · Surrey, BC
Counselling in Surrey,
and anywhere in
British Columbia.
I’m Ravi Teja, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) registered with the BCACC, with over 30 years of experience. I do trauma-informed work with individuals, couples and families on anxiety, depression, trauma and relationships — in person in Surrey, or online anywhere in British Columbia.

You might be here because of one of these.
Whatever brought you, you don’t need to have it figured out before you get in touch. Working out what’s going on is part of the work.
Some things are hard enough to say in your own language.
I offer sessions in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu, and my colleagues add Bengali — five languages between us. For many of the people we work with in Surrey, being able to speak in the language they think and feel in is the difference between explaining what happened and actually being understood.
Culture shapes what families talk about and what they don’t — around marriage, around duty, around what counts as a problem worth bringing to a stranger. You will not have to translate that part for me.
“Ravi being fluent in Hindi was a huge benefit for me. It is nice to find a counsellor who can provide therapy in my first language.”
30 years of sitting with people at their hardest moments.
I’m registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and my practice is trauma-informed throughout. I draw on EMDR, CBT, DBT, Gottman Method Couples Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches — but what that means in practice is a room where you are met with compassion, where nothing you say is judged, and where you are not rushed or handed a worksheet instead of a conversation.
My aim is that your feelings get taken seriously and that together we work towards resolving what’s underneath them, rather than managing it forever.

“Ravi's informed approach and compassion have greatly helped me to break negative patterns and behaviours, and better manage stressful situations. The sessions with her have been indispensable in building a self reliant foundation that is becoming stronger every day.”

“I recently had the pleasure of working with Ravi at her clinical counseling practice, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Ravi's expertise and genuine care created a safe and supportive environment for me to explore my challenges.”

How do I know if I need counselling?
There is no threshold you have to meet first. The common indicators are persistent difficulty coping with ordinary daily demands, emotions that feel disproportionate or unmanageable, recurring conflict in close relationships, changes in sleep or appetite, or withdrawal from things that previously mattered to you. If any of that has been going on for weeks rather than days, it is reasonable to seek professional support. Counselling is also legitimate as a considered choice rather than a last resort — many people come while functioning perfectly well, to work on something specific.
Is everything we discuss in counselling kept confidential?
Yes, as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I am required to keep everything that is discussed in counselling in the strictest of confidence, unless you give me voluntary written consent to do otherwise. There are 3 exceptions to this rule: 1. If your counsellor feels that you are a serious danger to yourself or others. 2. If your counsellor, or your counselling file is officially subpoenaed in a court case. 3. If there is information shared about current child or elder abuse.
Can I have counselling sessions over the phone or via video call?
Yes. Sessions are available by telephone and by secure video, and can be used for the whole of your therapy or alongside in-person appointments. This is often the practical option where distance, work patterns, caregiving or health make attending in person difficult, and it extends access to anywhere in British Columbia rather than the Surrey area alone.
Is the first consultation free?
Yes. The first conversation is a complimentary 15–20 minutes consultation, by telephone or video. It is a chance to describe what has brought you, hear how the work is approached, and ask anything you need to before committing to a session. There is no charge for it and no obligation to book afterwards. Enquiries are answered within 24 hours.
The first step is usually the heaviest one.
You don’t have to be in crisis to book, and you don’t have to know what to call it yet. If you’d rather ask something before booking, that’s completely fine too.
